DUNCAN, OK – The Duncan police department on Tuesday identified the three people killed Monday at a Walmart parking lot.
Wbiliado R. Varela Jr., 43, of Duncan, was identified as the gunman, and Rebecca N. Vescio-Varela, 31, of Duncan, and Aubrey P. Perkins, 39, of Minco, were identified as the victims.
The incident happened at about 9:53 am on Monday when Duncan Police were called for a gunman at the Walmart Supercenter at 3393 N 81 Hwy in Duncan about 65 miles (105 kilometers) southwest of Oklahoma City.
When officers arrived on scene, they found three bodies in the parking lot. A man and a woman were in a vehicle and a man was outside of the vehicle. Detective John Byers says all three were dead when their officers arrived on the scene.
Varela Jr. died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said at the scene. A semi-automatic handgun was found near the man outside of the car, Duncan police Lt. John Byers said.
Byers described the double-murder suicide as the result of a domestic dispute. He says the two victims had exited the Walmart and got into a vehicle when Wbiliado Valera approached and fired multiple rounds from a 9 mm, semi-automatic pistol.
Varela and Vescio-Varela were common law married, and Perkins was dating Vescio-Varela, Byers said.
Police stated that the incident appeared to be an isolated incident and no other people were in danger.
