The Oklahoma Senate General Government Committee voted 6-1 against the bill authored by state Sen. Ervin Yen, Oklahoma City-40 (R).
Yen’s 2015 Oklahoma Conservative Index score came in at 70 with an overall 70 score since being elected to office.
However a similar bill narrowly passed a House committee earlier this month and could be heard by the full House.
House Bill 2557, authored by by Rep. Harold Wright, Weatherford-57 (R), received a “do pass” recommendation in a 4-3 vote February 10 by the House Committee on State and Federal Relations.
Wright’s 2015 Oklahoma Conservative Index score came in at 60 with an overall 63 score since being elected to office.
Two other states, Arizona and Hawaii, do not observe daylight savings time.
Some of the members of the committee voiced concern the bill could jeopardize some federal funds.
