Thursday night was the seventh Republican debate hosted by Fox News/Google in Des Moines, IA.
The second Republican debate in 2016 found the Republican presidential contenders making their pitches on many policies and issues.
The undercard debate had on the stage former Senator Rick Santorum, Carly Fiorina, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore.
When FortySix News asked their readers who won the undercard debate those that voted felt that Fiorina won with 56 percent and Santorum came in second with 20 percent.
The main event had on stage Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) , New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Dr. Ben Carson, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) , Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) , former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and Ohio Governor John Kasich. Donald Trump chose not to attend after a dispute arose between him and Fox News over the choice of having Megyn Kelly be one of three moderators of the debate.
When FortySix News asked who won the main debate, with 32 percent of respondents said Cruz won and 28 percent said Trump came in second with Rubio coming in with 24 percent.
The Democrats presidential contenders will debate again on Thursday, February 11, 2016 in Wisconsin and is hosted by PBS.
The next Republican debate will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Manchester, NH and will be hosted by ABC News/IJReview.
