TULSA, OK – The White House has announced President Obama will sign a new executive order this month to implement new gun control measures across the country in the wake of multiple mass shootings that have taken place across the U.S. over the past few years.
He met with heads of the Justice Department and the FBI Monday to discuss what steps he could take within his legal authority.
There are no specifics about what the executive order will contain, but advisors have leaked and political analysts have speculated there will be new restrictions on background checks, especially at gun shows. There could also be new limits to the amount of bullets a gun magazine can hold, and new licensing for stores can also be included in the changes.
House Republicans said executive action on guns would be a dangerous level of executive overreach.

Scott Murry with RJ’s Gun Sales in Broken Arrow tells FOX23 he is disappointed the president is bypassing Congress, and Murry believes the new restrictions will only hurt law-abiding gun owners.
“I don’t think it’s a great decision,” Murry said. “It’s only going to affect people who have guns legally. People who aren’t buying guns legally are going to have the guns they’ve always had.”
Murry said he will be eagerly awaiting the specifics of the new executive order, and he warns any new changes that become too costly could increase the price of firearms and ammo nationwide.
“I don’t expect it to be too stringent, but if it is, then gun prices will probably go up again,” he said referencing the Clinton Administration’s gun restrictions.Follow @FortySixNews
