Obama on his second point of his speech, at 1:14 on the video, he stated, “In terms of refugees. It is clear that countries like Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan, which are already bearing an extraordinary burden can not be expected to do so alone. At the same time all of our countries have to ensure our security.”
“And as President my first priority is the safety of the American people. And that is why even as we accept more refugees, including Syrians, we do so only after subjecting them to rigorous screening and security checks.” Obama continued. “We also have to remember that many of these refugees are the victims of terrorism themselves. That is what they are fleeing.”
Obama then stated, “Slamming the door in their faces would be a betrayal of our values. Our nations can welcome refugees who are desperately seeking safety and insure our own safety, we can and must do both.”
But FBI Director James Comey put the lie to such vetting claims, recently testifying that no foreign databases exist to screen the Syrian refugees. “We can query our database until the cows come home, but there will be nothing showing up because we have no record of them,” Comey warned, adding,”It’s a risk.”
On Monday state Rep. John Bennett, Sallisaw-02 (R) has called on Governor Fallin to suspend Oklahoma’s effort in resettling Syrian refugees in Oklahoma.
Governor Mary Fallin replied back that Oklahoma will not stop accepting Syrian refugees but urges President Obama to suspend the US acceptance of the program.Follow @FortySixNews
