OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Oklahoma Republican Party (OKGOP) state committee on Sunday elected Pam Pollard as chairman to fulfill the remainder of former state party chair Randy Brogdon.
The credential committee had recorded 106 legislative votes, 233 state committee votes. 339 total votes could be cast for election on the next chair.
When the votes where counted 355 vote came in. 77 for Robert Hubbard, 115 for Estela Hernandez and 163 for Pam Pollard. Which resulted in 16 extra votes that were not valid.
A.J. Ferrott, who presided over the state committee meeting, explained the situation to the floor so they could decide what to do next.
“In order to bring unity to the party.” Hernandez made a motion to elect Pam Pollard as the next chair of the OKGOP. Hubbard seconded and the committee then took a vote.
With overwhelming support and minor opposition the floor approved the motion.
Pam Pollard then took to the podium and said, “We must stand strong and unified as a party.” With that she thanked Hernandez for taking a stand and making the motion to elected her and for Hubbard to second the motion.
