TULSA, OK – The grand jury investigating the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office has recommended that Sheriff Stanley Glanz be removed from office immediately.
The grand jury completed its probe and presented a report with several separate recommendations to the judge late Wednesday morning.
Attorneys representing Glanz were present, along with Marq Lewis of We the People Oklahoma, whose petition to oust the sheriff was the impetus for the grand jury to convene.
The five grounds for removal from office cited in the group’s petition are: habitual or willful neglect of duty, gross partiality in office, oppression in office, corruption in office and willful maladministration.
The report was handed out to reporters after the court proceeding. The document contained a list of eight recommendations from the grand jury urging more accountability in the Sheriff’s Office, including a more autonomous internal affairs department and better adherence to TCSO policies.
